There are many ways to connect to VANet. If a friend of yours is already involved in VANet, he may be able to get you connected very quickly. You can also connect to one of the Client ports. For the full VANet experience, you can connect to one of our PoPs. If you're unsure, you should check out our IRC channel, and feel free to ask around.

Connecting to a friend

Talk to your friend about this! Your friend can share some of his IP space with you, or request additional IP space and optionally an AS number at his PoP. This is the recommended way to get started if your friend is technically knowledgeable or challenged. It's quick, easy and yet gives you plenty of possibilities.

Client port

This is an easy way to get started. You can look around inside the network, but you can not access the entire network. This is a great way to learn some more about the network before you decide to hop in more permanently. It's even possible to establish a very anonymous connection to the network through the use of I2P or Tor. The Client ports page will provide you with all the information you need to get started.

PoP connection

This is the real deal. This is generally the best option if you're serious about connecting to VANet: you will have full access to the network, you'll be able to hook up your entire home network, get sufficient IP addresses for all your computers, get your own domain names for free, host your own services and a lot more. We have a few PoPs which you can connect to, each having their own policies and using different technologies.
